Race Location:
All races will take place entirely within the grounds of Middleton Park, next to the John Charles Centre for Sport, Middleton Grove, Leeds, LS11 5DJ.

Registration will not be on the Middleton Park field. Registration will be in the Parkside Suite of the John Charles Centre for Sport (Middleton Grove, Leeds, LS11 5DJ) from 8:45am.
If you have registered online (either for the series or for Race 1), you do NOT need to come to Registration: you should collect your race number from your club representative (your club should let you know when and where to do this).
Registration will be open only to deal with ‘on the day’ entries, guest runner entries, queries and to hand out sets of race numbers to club reps.
It will NOT be open to deal with pre-entered runners!

Car Parking:
Car parking is likely to be limited so please consider

  • Car sharing where possible
  • Using public transport – the John Charles Centre is accessible by the 2 and 3A bus from Leeds City Centre
  • Parking in the nearby area and walking. If you do need to park ‘on street’ please ensure that you do so safely, legally and with due consideration to local residents if parking in a residential area.
  • Running or cycling to the event

PECO event participants are allowed to use the John Charles Centre car parks, although parking will be limited. Please park in the car park off the third exit of the roundabout before the John Charles Centre if approaching from Middleton Grove, or the overflow car park – second exit when approaching from Middleton Grove, and then taking a left. You will be directed when the main car park is full.

The parking at the front of the stadium is short stay only and cars can only be parked there for three hours maximum, and you will be at risk of being ticketed if you exceed these restrictions.

Changing, Showers & Toilets:
Please either come ready to run, change at your club tent on Middleton Park field, or make use of the limited changing areas at the John Charles Centre.

After the race participants are welcome to use the showers in the John Charles Centre, although please bear in mind that with the number of participants these may be busy.

Toilets are available for use at the John Charles Centre.

Please leave all facilities in the John Charles Centre as you would wish to find them.

Warming Up:
Please keep off the junior race courses after 10.00am, as this is when the junior races start and it is not fair to the children to get in their way, or confuse them by running across or back along their race route. Suitable areas to warm up include the area in the middle of Middleton Park field or on the surrounding trails in the woods that are not used by the junior race courses.

The Courses:
The junior race courses are entirely on grass, and should be ideal for spikes (unless it is frozen hard).

The senior race courses include a few short areas of tarmac path, and therefore the course is not suitable for spikes. There are also three wooden bridge crossings at roughly 1.6 miles, 2.5 miles and 3.2 miles.

There are some sections with exposed tree routes at around 1.2 miles/1.9 K which will be signposted. Please give due care and consideration to your fellow participants.

Senior Course Map:

The start and finish are in the same place. The course starts with one anti-clockwise loop of the middle field (yellow arrows), going back over the start line (changing to blue arrows) and going out into the west woods. The course then goes back behind the tents and into the east woods. The course then comes back on to a section of the main field (green arrows) before dipping back into the west woods, and then coming back on to the main field going clockwise back down the start the opposite way.

Junior 1 Mile Course Map:

Junior 2 Mile Course Map:

The route starts with the green arrows, going anti-clockwise out of the main field and around the trees at the far end. The route then switches to going clockwise around the main field (yellow arrows) and then back around the trees at the far end. The route then finishes down the start straight in reverse (blue arrows).

Club Tents
Please note that if you are setting up your club tent then due to the nature of the one lap course the route crosses the north-east end of the main field three times. To ensure that the club tent area does not interfere with the route, please set up all tents after the break in the trees for the race to turn off to the left at 2 miles / 3.2 K (please see map). You will be directed to this area by event village marshals.

Post-Race Food:
Food will be served after the race at in the Parkside Suite, John Charles Centre for Sport, Middleton Grove, Leeds, LS11 5DJ. There will also be a bar open in the Parkside Suite after the race.

You will not be allowed into the Parkside Suite after the race in muddy shoes. Please either change into clean shoes before coming in to the John Charles Centre after the race or leave your shoes in the foyer.

Results will be published as soon as possible after the race on the League website (
